London, UK 28 August 2024: This September, Kivotos Mykonos, the luxury landmark on Greece’s iconic island, invites art and wine enthusiasts to experience a curated series of events that blend culture, creativity, luxury hospitality and culinary excellence. Designed to create unique experiences and inspire forever memories against the stunning canvas of the Aegean Sea, here’s everything you need to know!
Live Art Gallery Activation
The boutique art hotel is set to harmoniously blend art and hospitality. The highly anticipated "Kivotos Art Projects" returns this September, showcasing the talent of two renowned Greek artists and an artist from Germany. Each artist will create original works live in the hotel’s art gallery, offering guests a rare glimpse into the free-flowing creative process. These works will be inspired by the unique philosophy and vision of Kivotos Mykonos, a hotel that has long been the canvas for artistic expression. The programme is curated to support and spotlight local artists as a celebration of Greek culture and talent.
- Vasilis Michopoulos (vmixo): First up, from 30th August - 1st September is the Greek pop culture artist, Vasilis Michopoulos, better known as ‘vmixo’. Known for transforming everyday canvases into vibrant narratives where street art meets beloved cartoon heroes, vmixo's works are a colourful celebration of modern life. His art, marked by vivid colour contrasts and intricate details, offers a fresh perspective that bridges cultures and backgrounds, reflecting the beauty of our daily lives.
- Michail Kolonis (Mr.stARTue): On 14th and 15th September, Michail Kolonis, also known as ‘Mr.stARTue’, will showcase artworks that masterfully merge ancient Greek traditions with modern creative expressions. His captivating creations, often crafted from materials like alabaster, spray paint, and markers, juxtapose timeless mythological figures against contemporary cultural symbols. The effect is a dynamic dialogue between past and present
- Philipp Jänicke: Finally, German artist, Philipp Jänicke will bring his distinctive creative vision to Kivotos Mykonos from 20th - 23rd September. Based between the cosmopolitan hubs of Münster and Paris, Jänicke's art draws deep inspiration from the diverse cities and societies he's experienced, capturing the vibrant energy of urban scenes and pop culture touchstones.
During these events, hotel guests can meet the resident artists in person and commission bespoke artworks, creating one-of-a-kind mementos during their holiday.
The Kivotos Mykonos hotel is more than just a place to stay — it’s a living gallery. Transforming the Myconian white into a canvas of creativity, its 40 suites and villas are adorned with original artwork, Murano chandeliers, marble tables, and vintage lighting, elevating each space into a work of art. Interspersed throughout are exact replicas of Delian sculptures and antiquities, alongside rare 17th and 18th century pieces. Handcrafted design elements curated local artworks, and the owner's personal collection, come together in a harmonious blend of contemporary elegance and artisanal touches throughout the hotel.
The highly anticipated return of the “Kivotos Art Projects” reflects the hotel's continued commitment to supporting the arts. Visit this September to witness the magic of live art.
